Ryoma Sakuraba [Approved]

It all started 30 years ago right when Ryoma was promoted to vice-captain of the 9th squad. Lots of different shinigami were congratulating him for doing so well, for someone so young, but the one who was most proud was his Captain. Considering his captain knew that Ryoma was going to be his vice-captain from the beginning ever since he met him at the academy, which was right around the same time he was going to graduate in just 2 years. This is incredible for someone like Ryoma, considering the fact that he was accepted in the 9th squad at the age of 17 and not many shinigami can do that. Though the real battles came shortly after this his rank was 3rd seat to Ryoma he thought that he was doing really well but that was not it, it was cause that captain saw Ryoma had talent. A little later the captain requested to speak to Ryoma, during their little chat Ryoma started to think more about the squad after multiple things his captain had told him. Not long after Ryoma was talking to captain more often, because he felt he could trust him. His captain’s name was Kenji Hayabusa, Kenji was known as one of the strongest captain’s within the soul society. Though there was one in particular day when Kenji went to see the head Captain, and let him know that Ryoma Sakuraba is going to become his vice-captain very soon.

Several days later, Ryoma(vice-captain now) had started to search for someone, when his captain confronted Ryoma about this he then explains that he is looking for his older brother(Ryoma does not remember his name) that he was separated from a long time ago back when he was in the world of the living, right as Ryoma was dying in his brothers arms. His brother told him “your name is, Ryoma Sakuraba, now don’t forget, ok”. So after that all he could remember was his name was “Ryoma Sakuraba” ever since he got to the soul society. His understood the pain that Ryoma had since Kenji’s best friend was killed by a hollow, and the bond he and Kenji shared it would seem like they were brothers. So tying to help Ryoma he told him this, Ryoma started to feel bad for Kenji but having the same problem just formed a stronger bond between them.

Not long after Ryoma was given his first big assignment from his captain, which was to kill a traitor among the shinigami his name was “koyako denki”. Koyako is the former captain of squad 7 and some reason he wanted revenge on the head captain, till later Kenji explains to Ryoma the head captain was the one who sealed him away over a 1000 years ago. And the only thing standing in koyako’s way is Ryoma himself, while back at Kenji’s office the captain’s of squad 2, 6, and 10(head Captain) were discussing this matter. Each of them were against having Ryoma eliminate koyako, each of them under stood that Ryoma was strong but what bothered them was the fact that he was up against a captain. They thought that Kenji was making a mistake by sending his vice-captain to fight him; they were so busy telling him that “Ryoma is not strong enough to fight a captain; even if he is the strongest vice-captain he is still young”. That is when Kenji replied “you say he is not strong enough and yet you say his strongest among all the vice-captain”. “so have faith in him he is my vice-captain, I would not send him to a losing unless I knew he could win”. “That is why I know he will”. Then other captains started to think about what Kenji said then replied “I hope your right, Kenji” then they left. Back at to Ryoma, just as he arrived at the Sokyoku Hill right as he got there he saw koyako was waiting for him. Koyako looks at Ryoma then says “of all people to fight they send a boy to fight me, aghh”. He turns away for minute “this is an insult how dare they do this to me!” he then looks back at Ryoma. He says “judging from that badge on your sleeve you must be a vice-captain, are you not”. Ryoma replies “I am, so what”, koyako responds “I am impressed that you made vice-captain so young, but that is not going to help you beat me”. Koyako then draws his zanpakuto and points it toward Ryoma then says “you will die today Shinigami!”, Ryoma then grips his zanpakuto and replies “I am not dying any time soon, koyako”. Koyako then says “tell me your name shinigami”, Ryoma responds “Ryoma Sakuraba, vice-captain of squad 9”. After Ryoma’s response koyako then asked “is your Captain’s name Kenji Hayabusa?”, Ryoma replies “yes he is, how do you know him!”. Koyako then started to grin and said “then you must be strong then, since he trained you”, Koyako then shunpos behind Ryoma. Koyako then says “I hope your captain taught you well, Ryoma”. Koyako started to release his zanpakuto “send him to the shadows, ryukomaru!” wind then started to swirl around Koyako and took a different shape it looked like a blade with teeth sticking out on each side, and its color was silver(looks like zabimaru with fangs on each side). Koyako then was attacking Ryoma all sorts of different angles, but each of his attacks failed since Ryoma was able to block them. Koyako then thinks to himself “why can’t I hit him, it like he is not trying”, and then for a second Koyako left him self open and Ryoma then swung his zanpakuto and made a large cut right from Koyako’s right shoulder to his left side. Koyako was then starting to see that Ryoma’s zanpakuto was already in its shikai form. Koyako halts him attack for a moment and says “no wonder, you could not feel the impact, you using your shikai the whole time”. Koyako then takes a breath and says “then I guess I have to take it up a notch!” Koyako’s Spiritual pressure started to build up to huge amounts. Koyako then stabbed the ground with his zanpakuto and said “BAN-KAI!” then smoke started to appear around Koyako and moments later his zanpakuto’s shape changed it was one huge 6.5 ft blade in length. Not only that his shinigami outfit changed its color to white and Koyako looked a little fearsome towards Ryoma with his huge Spiritual pressure. Though that did not scare Ryoma then shunpoed and attacked Koyako with all sorts of swings, then Ryoma stepped back a little. Ryoma then started to think to himself “I never thought that his power would be so great, shikai is not going to be enough to beat him”. Ryoma then took his stance and raised his zanpakuto in front of him and his Spiritual pressure was rising to a huge amount. Ryoma then said “look closely this is my, BAN-KAI!” then a large black like monster claw appeared and headed straight towards Ryoma and placed it self on him and moments later it started to take form. Ryoma then said “Sensuzume Tutsusaiga” Ryoma then stepped forward and looked a little different from before (my image of my bankai). After that Koyako said “impossible, you can’t know bankai”, Koyako then looked at Ryoma’s zanpakuto and replied “and that thing is your bankai absurd” but right after Koyako said that Ryoma already had his blade pointed at Koyako’s throat and Ryoma replied “if my bankai is so absurd, then why was it so easy to catch you off guard then” Ryoma then pulled his blade away from Koyako’s neck. Koyako then asks “why did you not kill me when you had your blade against my neck, well no matter”, Koyako then shunpos behind Ryoma and tried to cut but never could reach him. Ryoma then shunpoed all around Koyako at amazing speed, Koyako was getting very annoyed with Ryoma. Koyako said “alright no more games” and Koyako raised his hand over his face, then pulled it down and a hollow mask was on his face. He then said “this was the reason I was sealed away all these years because I gained a power that no shinigami should have even though I got this power to protect them”. Ryoma then felt a sky rocket in Koyako’s Spiritual pressure, towards Ryoma he felt like he was fighting a monster. Ryoma then said “what you’re a vizard!?”, Ryoma was now starting to feel a little heavy from Koyako’s Spiritual pressure. Koyako shunpoed in front of Ryoma and raised his sword, Ryoma then shunpoed away though he could not go very far but just far enough to get some distance Ryoma then raised his sword above him then swung it downward and said “Getsuga Gensho!” then the shape of a large crescent moon took form and headed straight for Koyako but he easily blocked Ryoma’s attack and sent away. This shocked Ryoma because that was his strongest attack that he knew of at the time. Moments later Koyako was beating Ryoma senseless and Ryoma was not strong enough to stop his attacks. Koyako then threw Ryoma toward the ground and just as Koyako was about to do the finishing blow, Kenji stepped in its path to protect Ryoma. Ryoma then looked in front of him a saw his captain protecting him, Ryoma then asked “Captain why did you save me?” kenji responded saying “because you’re my vice-captain and it is my job to protect you” Koyako pulls his zanpakuto out of kenji (kenji was pierced at the heart) kenji then fell to his knee’s just as he was going to fall back Ryoma got himself up a caught him before he fell. As tears started to fall down Ryoma’s face, “No, Captain don’t die please you can’t leave me!” as Ryoma was crying Kenji placed his hand on Ryoma and said “Ryoma stop with the tears, ok. I knew some day this was going to happen, Ryoma there is something you should know you were already stronger then me ever since I saw your bankai I knew you had a power that went above bankai”. Ryoma then said “a power above bankai, that’s not possible” kenji replies “but there is Ryoma and you have it, it’s called Kyuukyokukai (ultimate Release). From a distance squad 10’s captain was watching the fight and wanted to see if what kenji said was true or not. At Kenji last moments he told Ryoma “you are the one to take my place Ryoma as captain of the 9th squad” Ryoma replied “no, I can’t I am not ready for that yet, there are so many things you haven’t taught me….” (Tears were running down Ryoma’s face a little more). Kenji then said “Ryoma reason I told you were the one to take my place was because I knew you were ready, that is why” Kenji *chough* *chough* Ryoma Kenji coughed up some blood. Ryoma then grabbed Kenji’s zanpakuto and placed the edge of the blade on his left cheek and cut him self with it. Kenji asks “why did you cut your self Ryoma?” Ryoma replies “from now on while I have this scar on my face I will become the strongest captain in the ranks that I promise Kenji”. Kenji then says “I know you will, ryo...m.a” Kenji at that moment died right in front of Ryoma. Koyako walks toward Ryoma and asks “is finally dead?” Ryoma then set down his captain’s body behind him and stood up then turned his head and looked toward Koyako and at him with eyes full of hate. Tutsusaiga then appeared in front of Ryoma, no one else could see him except Ryoma, he then asked “Ryoma I can feel it in your soul that you want enough power to kill the man in front of you. If you truly want my ultimate power then answer this, do you think you are ready for my ultimate form? (Time has frozen around Ryoma for a short time until Ryoma answers Tutsusaiga). Ryoma starts to think for a second and feel different about it and says “no, I am not ready Tutsusaiga but just cause I say it does not mean I am not going to try!” Ryoma waits for Tutsusaiga’s response, he then says “if truly feel that way” he then starts to grin “you are worthy, Ryoma you may have my ultimate power” after that Koyako felt Ryoma’s power growing. Ryoma raised his zanpakuto above himself and said “Kyuukyokukai!” started to rise even more and the winds around started to swirl and the shadows from his zanpakuto started to change. Though Ryoma did not look very different but there were black marks on his face and hands, Ryoma then said “this is my ultimate power”. Koyako then attacked but be for he could make his move Ryoma had already landed a deep wound on Koyako’s chest. Koyako then asked “how could you be stronger than me, its not possible!” Koyako shunpoed away to get some distance then said “show this ultimate pow….” Before he could even finish Ryoma had already took his stance and lifted his zanpakuto up then swung it downward and said “Getsuga Gensho!”(This is the hakai form of it times 10) in seconds Koyako was killed by the attack and Ryoma had won. Ryoma then walked by his captain and took off his captain coat and put it on and from that day forward Ryoma’s days as captain had begun. After the fight the 10th squad captain glad Kenji was right about Ryoma.
